So, I'm applying for a game design job, and they suggested that I make a Neverwinter Nights campaign to get some experience. I started one before, but never quite finished it. Now I'm wondering which engine I should go for. I assume NWN2 since it is more recent.
Anyone have experience with NWN2? Is there a big mod community? I'm going to pick up a copy tomorrow and check it out.
If I make a campaign, would anyone beta test it for me?
Thanks!

Well, I've played a lot of community created NWN1 modules, and people have done some pretty darn impressive things with that engine.
I haven't tried any community created NWN2 modules yet....but only because I haven't finished the original campaign yet. There seems to be some big interest in recreating popular P&P modules like Ravenloft, etc, but I haven't actually seen much materialize yet.
I haven't tried my hand at creating anything from scratch, and don't follow the developer type chatter, so honestly do not know which is better from that standpoint. My suggestion though would be NWN1, just because of the depth of the mod community. Should be easier to come up with handy tools and support.
That all being said, I'd love to test either one that you choose.

I only have NVW1, and honestly haven't tried many mods. But if you design any for that one, I would be happy to try it out.

I've been reading around, and it looks like NWN2 is much more powerful, though tougher to learn. I remember being frustrated in NWN when I wanted to do non-traditional things. It was easy to create simpler stuff though.
I think I'm going to do NWN2. The community of modules is small but growing, so I think I'll have an easier time getting random people to try mine and give me feedback. I'll keep you posted.

I started up the campaign to try it out, and I've started running through some mod making tutorials. Seems pretty good so far. Much easier to create unique looking areas than before, but basically the same idea as NWN1.
We'll see how the dialog and scripting are.
Has anyone played any online NWN2?

I haven't, but I will gladly give it a shot! We could probably recruit Galendril aka Barrick as well.

It might be fun. I don't like having to deal with the party. I've gotten spoiled by MMOs.
