Please give me some honest feedback on this. I'm always trying to come up with something to do with the show, but all my ideas usually get put to the side because they would take way too much time editing or just sound like a pain to do. So I had an idea today for a simple change we could make, but I want to know if others think they would enjoy listening to it and being a part of it.
Right now we talk about what games we've been playing, sometimes hit a news topic or two, and then read emails (hahaha).
What I'm thinking of is simple prep-work from whoever is going to be on the show, special guest and regular hosts alike. It would go like this:
We start the show normally, then we talk about ONE game we've been playing. We play alot of games, but I'd really like to narrow our discussion down to the one we REALLY want to speak on. If two or more members of the show want to talk about the same game, fine, but that forfeits all those people's games, but most likely we'll all have been playing something else we can still talk about. But again, we each only get one to put into the doc.
Then here's the idea:
Each person brings a question. It can be something serious, or some off the wall idea they want to discuss, but everyone asks the group a question and we discuss it. It could be, "what do you like in a crafting system in an MMO" or, "what game are you looking forward to next" or whatever.
My goal is to get the show to be around 30-45 minutes long and also be more engaging. I love that the show is fun, and I don't want to sacrifice that, so if this seems like too much work, I'll drop it. But we're often running out of space on the host and I want to start a TOR show, so it's crucial that I keep the time it takes to edit the show at a minimum.
Thanks for your time!

I like that idea!
I tend to zone out during the never-ending list of games. I don't think people care that someone's listed 8 games for the week. I get pulled back in when you guys actually discuss something so narrowing down the game list and having a topic is an awesome idea.
I know getting email is like impossible so I also think you should engage twitter more. Ask a question through twitter on a Wednesday or something and read those responses.
My goal for CoTCast was 30 minutes and that was difficult and we had a much narrower focus. The what'cha playing segment was intended to be a quick intro because it tended to simply be a level update and we could move on to the topics of WAR for the week. In Multiplaying, it's become the whole show.

Fantastic idea!
Edit. I wonder, would it be better for us to each bring a question,
or
we could ask a question at the end of the show and tell people to email their responses, then also ask it on twitter that week and read them off after our "whatcha playing" and then ask the next question
I just wonder if having us ask eachother stuff plus asking the listeners would be too much stuff. Maybe we could talk on a topic and then do the listener responses thing.
I LIKE WHERE THIS IS GOING! ;D

This, sounds like a fantastic idea! Engaging our audience through twitter is a great idea, and I also must agree that I feel much more engaged and listen inventively when the hosts focus in on a interesting debate or discussion.

Oh, ya... it should be the same question. The feedback will provide additional sources for discussion on the topic.

Guess I'm wondering: Do we skip the idea of having each host bring a question to disuss and just discuss the answers from the previous week's question? Would be: Intro Drinks! Playing (1 game each) Topics (if there are any worth the time) Discuss question asked at end of last podcast Read answers from twitter/email/comments from show notes ask next question (then ask on twitter mid-next week)

Whatever you feel works is fine with me, guess we just need to test how many replies we'd get on Twitter.

I think : A. Drinks! is the Intro of the hosts B. Hosts' Game of the Week (1 game each max - can combo) - Topics (is this about the games?)
C. Bring up Discussion Topic asked at the end of previous show & on Twitter - Read answers from twitter/email/comments from show notes & discuss the points brought up by each answer
- Host discussion on their own answer
D. ask next question (then ask on twitter mid-next week) I think that in reading and discussing the answers you get from the community, you'll naturally get the hosts' input on the discussion topic as well.

The trick is coming up with an interesting topic worthy of discussion each week, but that's kinda the whole point of a show and you're really good at that. If you get stuck, you could always pick any interesting blog topic that was posted that week on Multiplaying or there is always some hot topic in the blogosphere/twitterverse each week.
I think you'll be able to pre-gauge audience interest on your topic each week by how many responses you get.

I think we'll start this on tomorrows show. But without the discussion part; I'll just ask the question at the end for next week's talk.
