hom.guildwars2.com/index.html#page=welcomeThey announced a HoM rewards program. Basically, this is a Guild Wars 1 loyalist program. The Hall of Monuments is a place in Eye of the North where players...store special things. (I'm not clear on it TBH, as I don't have Eye of the North....yet.) This now unlocks items for GW2. It's pretty cool. If you're curious about the rewards and don't have a GW1 account, you can type in "Firax Stormcaster", one of my char's names. (As you can see, I haven't done much. XD) I also noticed they put Eye of the North up for a 33% off sale on the ingame store. Coincidence? I think not. EDIT: It's funny to watch the GW2 Guru forums, in which people have been pretty down lately, suddenly explode in a series of "OH MY GOD MUST GET POINTS AHHHHH!!!!" It makes for entertaining reading over eating lunch.

OK everyone, this is what I was blathering about on Ventrilo last month, the official link between Guild Wars 1 and Guild Wars 2 is now UP. 9/50 here which is damn good considering GW1 has not been my main MMO since September 2006. I can get to 20/50 with a couple weeks of PvE grind, that will give me a nice toolshed full of weapons to try out while I decide what to make my main. BTW we've missed GW1 night the last couple weeks, this might help us get back on track

As someone who has not played EotN, is the HoM account based or character based? I'm trying to figure out how it works (although...I do have EotN now. >.> 20 bucks. Is cheap.). I think I have enough stuff I may get some points the moment I unlock the HoM though.

It's account based... and yeah unlocking the HoM is an instant 3 points.
Are you going to be playing at all this weekend? I can give you a guided tour of some of EotN if you'd like.

Sure, but my new character isn't level 20 yet. Granted, level 17, but yes. His name is Generatio Storm. Provided I get a project done on time, I'll be around. What's the name of your char?

I wanted to see how many rewards I had earned, but I couldn't remember my character's name. So, I figured I'd log into the game to check but then on the login screen "Enter the name of a character on this account" as a security question. :/ Waiting on customer service to reply to my email.
Pretty cool feature, tying the two games together like that. Getting kinda excited for GW2.

I think it was ~13 usd on steam.
but yeah, kinda neat and you don't need to catch them all as rewards seriously drop off after 30 pts.

My current goal is 12 points, becuase I figure...if they don't put Mesmer in, I can at least look like a Mesmer as I play my Ele. ^_^
On a different note, I have 19 mini-pets. What's a fast way to get 1 more?

Before anyone else goes buying Eye of the North, it's still on Newegg for $5.99 and has been for some time. That's how I got mine. ;D

My character's name is Grok Dyermark. I'm lvl 18 atm, but I'm kind of stuck. Only quests I have are Master Level quests that I need a group for... I may need to suck it up and group with a stranger to get through them...

Okay picked up EOTN... man this game is confusing as hell when it comes to figuring out where and what to do next. No idea if EOTN is what I should be concentrating on to start filling up on these rewards or if they require some pre-expansion completions...

Okay picked up EOTN... man this game is confusing as hell when it comes to figuring out where and what to do next. Yeah the quest tracking functionality in GW1 is definitely not on the same level as WoW, WAR, or (from what I've heard) LotRO. It's one of the areas where the game shows its age. I admit to being pretty disoriented myself trying to get back on track with campaigns I hadn't touched in 3 years. No idea if EOTN is what I should be concentrating on to start filling up on these rewards or if they require some pre-expansion completions... Well I am sure that some very long and detailed Hall of Monuments guides will be popping out on the fansites very soon but here is a brief primer on the five Monuments and how to deck them out: Devotion - these are the non-combat minipets. Either you have a dozen or two of these or you don't. Fellowship - focuses on Nightfall/EOTN hero henchmen and exotic Ranger combat pets. Some of the Nightfall statues are VERY easy to get from a mission less than halfway thru the Nightfall campaign. The exotic Ranger combat pets are much harder to get. Honor - focuses on two things: completion of the PvE campaigns/optional endgame areas, and farming titles. Completing PvE game content is fairly straightforward, grinding titles is not. There is also a "free" 3 points here simply for buying EOTN (the "Linked Accounts" point award) Resilience - this one is a pure PvE grind, although not terribly difficult. Just grind out a bunch of high-end armor sets for your character(s) over the span of a few weeks. I got a very nice Asura (Eye of the North) armor set for my Warrior main last year thru about 2 weeks of fairly leisurely grind. Now I need 4 more Valor - by far the hardest monument, you need to get some very exotic endgame weapons here from the optional sub-campaigns.
