That is strange. I have a Samsung BW225 LCD widescreen monitor (plus a 19" Dell LCD) that plays just fine. I don't think what could make the game refuse that. Could you screenshot the error message and post it somehow?

IMHO, you made the right choice. You'll be in demand, that's for sure!

Well, just finished installing and I am getting the same message. It is a monitor message, not an error with my computer. When I try to start the game, the screen goes black, message "searching for signals", then goes to a blue message in the center of my screen "not supported mode". I can hit control+alt+delete and go back to my desktop. Everything runs fine. But when I maximize the LotRO, it goes back to that message. I researched this last time, but never could figure it out. Found this on a forum. If you scroll down past all the junk, there is a suggestion to modify the files. Anybody who knows more about this stuff than me think this is a plan? *Edit* I went ahead and tried it and it did the trick! The resolution was too low. So I am finally able to play the game on my new system. On the downside, I see that Turbine won't let me play my old characters with the buddy pass. I am relatively sure they are on a different server anyway.

Either way, go into your "Documents" (or "My Documents" on XP), open the LotRO folder in there and open the file named "userpreferences.ini" in Notepad. There, find the line that reads Resolution= What does it reads? Mine says: 1680x1050. Or, just put the same X x Y that you are using on your desktop. Then launch the game.

Well, it is a slow day at work so I tried a few more classes out and I seem to be settling away from the minstrel. The short time buffs are giving my wrist nightmares of EQ bard twisting.
Currently trying and enjoying: Winin the elf hunter Jonogold the human champion
I've done a lot of support lately, so I want a go at dps. Guardian is still possible, but I tend to get bored easily with defensive tanks.
Oh and /edit: My dad rolled a minstrel named Frett, so I wanted something that would group well with him.

whats the best race for champion class? I don't think it really matters, in the end. I'm not even sure the starting stats are that different, to be honest. I read tho that the "racials" might influence one way or another, but in the end, meh, just play what you like best.

I've got Maevwyn, a human captain that I haven't given a go yet. And Maewen, and elf minstrel that I played up to level 6. I'll try to be there tonight.

I'll probably stick with Jonogold my human champ. He is pretty fun and level 8 now.
