I'm playing a DH, but I may try a wiz or witch doctor for hardcore mode.

Tak's playing a WD, too. Also have an old guildie who's got one in the mid-40's. Looks like an awesome class.Personally, I'm back to my Dh after experimenting some. Just something about a sexy babe laying waste to demons that appeals to me. >_>

I got my monk up to 54 and was having a blast, until I got seriously into hell difficulty which was just kicking my ass six ways from sunday. I think it's my build and style though, more than a problem with the class, so I'm trying out some other characters now.
I find the witch doctor is the easiest to keep alive, but plays slow. When I go hardcore that will probably be my class.

"plays slow" is exactly how I felt about it. Super cool from a design standpoint, but so, so slow compared to everything else. I did have better luck once I fitted a fast weapon.

It is quite slow until you unlock more of your abilities. Starting out you mostly hang back and throw minions everywhere and wait for the creature to die. As I unlocked more I was able to get more involved. The WD's spells are incredibly flashy and have the tendency to confuse everyone on your team, which can also be enjoyable.
Plus, as previously mentioned it's very easy to survive as, just hide behind your minions and snares.

Yeah. So far I've rolled everything but a wizard. Monk, as cool as I'd hoped it would be prior to the open beta weekend, has continued to disappoint me. Barbarian is easily my second-fave class (after DH), though I hear it's one of the tougher classes to play in Inferno. WD looked like one of the most fun, if I could get past the initial slowness. I'm currently torn between WD and Barb for my secondary class, especially since my DH is close to Hell and I think I'm going to need something "easy" to play on the side so as not to get too frustrated once I get there.

I have been told that all the melee classes are severely under powered. Also, I have noticed that the wizard is fairly over powered.

Yes, melee is very very hard in hell. With all the particle effects going off from my own abilities it's very hard to tell when i need to move away to avoid instant one shot fatal damage from ground effects, and if i do even see it and get out of the way, then i have no way to continue to do damage from outside melee range. And even though I'm specced as far into avoiding and mitigating damage as possible on my monk, many of the ground effects still one shot me.
