I like the skirmish idea. It sounds a lot like the Lost Dungeons of Norrath expansion from Everquest. That was a big hit.

I did a bunch of the skirmishes last night, and they are pretty addictive.
I only did them solo, but you can earn henchman like characters that you can equip with different traits and abilities. Kind of like Guild Wars.
You can also do them in fellowships, which would be pretty fun.
Each skirmish scenario has a different story, with different attack styles from the enemy. Pretty cool stuff.

Gah, must....get....30.... Plus side though, since I'm 21, I can go experience the revamped zone....that I never really experienced much of before anyways. I just made myself sad.

Slurms: you missed nothing, the Lone Lands was universally loathed. It was one quest of killing boars after another in the desert. I hope they at least made the boars fly or shoot acid or something now!
Aberrant: I hear ya, they were awesome! I'm still hearing that damn horn in my head after playing through about a dozen of them last night. Very addictive, can't wait to see where they go from here with them. PvP anyone?
Speaking of which, have either of you tried the Monster play side? You can create a maxed out (65) monster once you have one character at level 10 on your account. It'll give you a taste of what it is like at least.

PvP in those would be very cool.
I toyed with the Monster stuff shortly after launch. I never really got into a group to do it. I would love to try that.
I want to see how the keeps there work.

I really want to, I may tonight. I just always see that button to do Monster Play and I think...."hmmm, I could dick around with that, or put more time into my main..." Also, I fear that I may like the Monster Play alot and just play that for days and leave my Warden in the dust.

If you do, what you want to do is open your Social Panel (o) and look for an open raid group. That's always the best way to find the action, which on Landroval is most nights. Although that might be dampened right now because of Free Peoples trying to get back to level cap.

When I was winding down my time in LOTRO, I did monster play pretty much exclusively. I had an archer I think and a spider. It was pretty fun, and a good way for a casual dude to get some PVP, since I didn't have to level from 1 - 50 (or whatever the cap was) in order to do it. 1 on 1, the freeps seems much tougher, but there were usually packs of creeps out there to join. Hmmm, willpower flagging... But my chars were on another server. I'd have to start from scratch.

Once I got to North Downs things got better.

Wow, I got lucky.
I went straight into North Downs, never really went to Lonelands.

The truly criminal thing is it isn't the source material at fault here, I mean we're talking about the iconic Weathertop here... it just is (or was?) bland zone design. I've got a character parked at The Forgotten Inn there, ready to try out the new content. Hopefully it's improved!

The first time I saw Weathertop I was so excited that I had to grab my wife to show her. Being the loving supportive wife she of course feigned interest, but I was happy.
