So we know that rangers can become druids when equipping a staff. What are your ideas for other professions? Since I am leveling and loving the engineer I will throw my theory out there. In the HoT video we see an engineer carrying a hammer. I am predicting that engineers can become demolitionists. Engineers build/construct and demolitionists destroy/deconstruct. There seems to be a yin yang to that. Demolitionists also use tools like sledge hammers, jack hammers and pneumatic hammers. Yup.... demolistionist.

Demomen?!? So what we know so far is: Ranger + Staff = Druid Mesmer + Shield = Chronomancer Necromancer + Greatsword = ?? Engineer + 2H Hammer = ?? I'm guessing we'll get more info on the 3rd, when the embargo lifts on all the stuff the youtubers got to see during their visit last week. www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/2x0cnv/were_in_for_a_fun_day_of_gw2hot_here_at_the/I'm really curious what they'll give the other classes. Warrior + pistols? Guardian + Longbow? Thief + Rifle? But most importantly, I just hope that the greatsword will allow my Necro to become more of a tank and get into the melee.

Has Chronomancer been confirmed? I've only seen speculation revolving around that one spell animation. Chronomancer would be my guess also.
Thief+Rifle= Sniper? Have some mechanic that deals with accuracy. Something similar to a power meter in golf games. That's something I want to see with these new specializations; interesting mechanics. Since we won't be able to switch between weapons as these new professions, I think they need to have an interesting play style to keep players attention.

I don't think the name of the spec has been confirmed, no. But they have said that "slow" is one of the new conditions they're adding with the expansion. That, mixed with the spell effect, damn near confirms that the Mesmer specc would be some form of a chronomancer.
edit: and yeah, I want new mechanics as well. The stuff they showed off for the Revenant got me really hopeful that the new specs will help keep the old classes interesting.

I've been thinking....hoping...really, that the Elementalist specialization weapon is Sword. We've basically heard nothing about ele's though. I doubt it will be a two hander though, due to the sheer amount of skills ele's get with a weapon.
I just wanna wield Bolt on an ele. T,T
I doubt the Engineer specialization will be called demolistionist though. While hammer fits, the fact that Hammer will appear to have a focus on pets that hover and follow your character around leave me to believe the class will have a more pet-focused name. Machinist maybe?
I'm actually really interested to see what the Revenant's specialization will be. It will be interesting to see how they evolve the class without the benefit of years of watching, like they have the others.

I completely forgot about the flying robot in that video! Thanks for reminding me. You may be right. There is also only one pet class in the game. Would be nice to have another. If you are right I hope these mechanical pets are permanent and not abilities like turrets.

I speculated about this on Twitter (and got mentioned on Guild Wars Reporter -- squee!) but I wouldn't mind seeing some of the water weapons see the light of day. Give a Warrior a spear and have all of its moves be Leaping-based, like a Final Fantasy Dragoon. Maybe put a speargun in a thief's hands for some ridiculous stealthy CC action. Maybe trident for Guardian because someone has to have trident.
It would give players a reason to shoot for water Legendaries at the very least.
