Building it was one of the most exciting things I've done in an MMO but then after it was done I had no idea what to do. Do I wax it? How often does it need re-sealed? Seriously though, what do I do with this thing? Do trade runs from zones further away give more money? Should I be running from the north end to the south end of the continent?

During peace time for sure! You get way more money the further away the pack comes from. There's also fishing! Just.. be careful of pirates (and reds if you're in open waters). Also don't fall for pirate tricks, like people yelling for help that they can't get to their own boat, and be careful of strange greens just floating in the water, they can jump on and bloodlust. It's exciting and congratulations!
Should I always be in bloodlust mode when on the ship? Also, can you turn bloodlust off or does it go away after so long?
Thanks!
If I were you I would not ever be in bloodlust, this is what causes you to attack greens (same faction players). I haven't seen a reason to go bloodlust especially in our fairly timid guild, unless you're trying to PK (which is I believe against our guild rules). You can turn it off, there's a toggle (shift + r? something, not sure what it is).

Oh, when we went on the trade run we were told to stay in Bloodlust because if we're attacked by the same side we'd be screwed if we weren't. Probably won't need to be when I'm alone. If I get jumped I'll be screwed either way.

Hmm I think the reason is because there is more than one person. ALONE there's no reason for you to, because you are the target.
Yesterday I was questing and a player went bloodlust on me, I was able to fight back and attack them just fine, and I didn't do a thing. Maybe it's if there's more than one person? As in you're able to attack BACK at someone, but if they're ganking someone that is not you, you won't be able to help.
