Maybe its because its lunch - maybe its because its thanksgiving week. But thought I would start a quick recipe swap. Now, this doesn't have to be your own design - please note the link to one of the sides I make for Thanksgiving so no need to get protective about your secret pumpkin pie recipe. Couple that I make for Thanksgiving/Christmas each year. Homemade Microwavable Apple Sauce3 Golden Delicious apples, peeled, cored, and quartered 3 Fuji apples, peeled, cored, and quartered 1 cup unfiltered apple juice 2 tablespoons cognac or brandy 2 tablespoons butter 3 tablespoons honey 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon In a sealable microwave-safe container, combine apples with all other ingredients. Close lid, leaving one corner of lid open to allow steam to escape. Microwave on high for 10 minutes. Using a hand blender or potato masher, blend to desired consistency. Serve hot immediately or chill for later use. Sweet/Hot Chip Dip1 Jar Harry and David's Onion Pepper Relish2 boxes Philly Cream Cheese Bring Cream Cheese to room temperature and Whip. Slowly combine the Jar or Relish with the Cream Cheese. Continue to Whip/Beat until light and fluffy. Chill for at least one hour, serve with Tostido's or the like.

Sweet Potatoes with Molasses and Chipotle 6 large sweet potatoes (4 1/2 lb. total), peeled and cubed 8 tbsp (1 stick) unsalted butter 1/4 cup molasses 1 tbsp minced canned chipotle pepper Salt and pepper to taste Place sweet potatoes in large saucepan and cover with lightly salted water. Bring to boil; cook 8-10 min. or until tender. Drain; return to saucepan. Add butter, molasses and chipotle pepper. Mash mixture with a potato masher. Season with salt and pepper. Serves 10. Of course, I like to add about 10x the chipotle....

I need to get the recipe for Hort's step Dads pumpkin soup, that was the best soup I've ever had, yum! Scalloped Broccoli (or Cauliflower for those like me who can't have broccoli ) Nava Atlas, from the Vegetarian Family Cookbook. 1 large head cauliflower or 3 good size broccoli crowns, or half of each, cut into bite sized pieces. 2 tbsp nonhydrogenated margarine 1/2 cup soft whole wheat bread crumbs 2 tbsp wheat germ 1/2 cup grated cheddar cheese (or soy cheese if you wish ) 2 scallions (optional) 1. Preheat oven to 350 F 2. Place couliflower in a large saucepan or a microwave safe container and steam until just tender. Drain and transfer to a large shallow casserole dish. 3. Melt the margarine in a small skillet. Drizzle half over the couliflower and toss to mix. 4. Add the bread crumbs and wheat germ to the remaining margarine in the skillet and toss to coat. Remove from heat. 5. Sprinkle the cheese, if using, over the cauliflower, then sprinkle the bread crumb mixture evenly over the top. Sprinkle on the scallions if desired. Bake for 25 minutes, or until bread crumbs look crisp and golden. Serve. Hort gets all excited like a little school girl when I make this I always make it on Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Chocolate syrup is a serious bitch to get out of sheets. Honey is easier to clean up.
Just sayin...

I once stayed at a classy hotel that had a sign in the room that said "Please DO NOT get oils or other substances on the bedsheets. You WILL be charged for any ruined linens." This post has taken a slight turn.
