...You know, I always thought EA was a company that put the business end before the quality of the games they make, but now it's clear to me they can't even get that right. Only EA could sell out of a good that is infinitely copyable.

No they still have the Digital Deluxe for sale. They sold out of the box CEs.
But they say are limiting the DDs & regular copies as well for prerelease sales. They say they have a limit on how many they will sell for prerelease. I assume there's a max population load for launch that they can handle and they'd be smart to limit it to that. How terrible would launch be if they sold a crazy number copies but couldn't handle the population so the launch becomes an absolute fail? A smooth launch and high demand wouldn't be a bad thing. They can always grow. We've seen how bad it is when MMOs have to consolidate servers a month after release when the tourists leave.
Of course I don't think that's likely to happen. They are limiting prerelease, but they will still have SWTOR for sale for launch day. EA will gladly take your money.

Just about every MMO says CE stuff is limited, but we rarely see that happen. You can almost always find a CE at Best Buy like 3 months after launch. It would be kind of cool to see a company actually stick with stuff being limited edition. Make it special when you see someone with that bonus stuff a year after launch.
