For a while now, Aberrant, Slurm, and I have been wanting a change when it comes to podcasting. We love doing a show, but things have changed over the years. Originally our show was created to be a companion podcast to our gaming community and despite the fact that we still identify as that, we're really not that anymore.
Last year's hiatus was actually due to us trying to retire Multiplaying as a podcast and begin a new show, but we were unable to get an idea moving. This year, we finally know what we want.
In a couple of weeks, we'll be launching The MMO Show.
We've locked down most social media and have begun setting up a common brand/logo for all of them.
The show's format will be very similar to Multiplaying's podcast, but we're not going to be focusing on this specific gaming community. That really shouldn't be a surprise to anyone who's listened to the show in the last year or so. For many members here, the line between gaming communities is blurred and has been for years. We've made so many friends in other gaming communities that they've become gaming homes to us too. Many here belong to other communities but join MP sometimes as well. And this is good... this was the original goal of Multiplaying. We want to bring like-minded gamers together and be as inclusive as possible with no territorial attitudes. But as that has happened, the show was not just about Multiplaying any more. The title of the show, as that, is misleading. Multiplaying, the forums/community, will continue as normal. The forums will be here and people can coordinate/share as usual. This isn't an end to Multiplaying gaming together.
This also isn't an end to podcasting together. On the contrary, we hope this change will help encourage more participation, as you don't have to "belong" to Multiplaying to be on the show. And anyone who's ever been on an episode of Multiplaying is more than welcome to guest-star on The MMO Show.
We hope that any of you who enjoy the Multiplaying podcast will subscribe to the new show when the time comes. We'll give you info as we get things going. Our website url is themmoshow.com/ but at this time it just has an episode of Multiplaying as a placeholder item for now. The social media links are valid so you can start following them if you like. The podcast subscription links are not yet active, since we don't have a show recorded yet. The RSS feed is set for themmoshow.libsyn.com/rss but obviously there's been nothing published yet.
We'll be announcing this on the show next week but we wanted to give everyone a head's up here. Multiplaying episodes (and the archived CoTCasts/RavenKast episodes) will continue to be available for a few months so that people can save their favorites.
