Not sure why, but I fired up CounsterStrike: Global Offensive this past weekend and got hooked pretty damn quick. I used to play the ever-loving-shit out of 1.6 back when I first started getting into PC gaming and I even had a CS: Source phase, but apart from just checking out CS:GO once after it was released, I've not played in a few years. The bad:The community can be sketchy as hell. People range from being hilarious and helpful to the cliche stupid kids who smoke weed err'day and fucked your mother while making more money than you'll ever see. No joke: there was one kid on there who sounded like he was 14 and drunk and kept rambling on and on. The good:You can mute people with ease and just focus on the game. Boom. The bad:There's apparently a rash of hacking? I guess? We did have someone in a match get called out for it and rather than defending himself he just disconnected. The good:I've really not seen hacking first hand, but it's something that's been prevalent in about every damn FPS I've ever played, to some degree. There's a billion servers, though. If it's ruining one, just move on to another. The bad:I'm not great at CS:GO. I'm okay! But I'm not great. The good:Who cares! It can still be super intense and every match feels different enough that you either want to jump right back in to avenge your own death or continue to feel like a badass after having a great round. Sort of like playing MOBA's, I don't play professionally and anyone who complains about your abilities probably doesn't play professionally either, so screw em! So, if you have CS:GO and see me online playing, hop in the game with me!

I might redownload and jump in.
Did you notice if you can do a "Mute all" easily? I would rather just ignore people till I get my feet wet.

There's not an option for that, from what I've seen. Just individuals. Most I've ever had to mute in order to take care of loud mouths was 4 in one game, though.

I've been dibble-dabbling in csgo, as in I've got it for a year now and it's taking over ... slowly taking over solo-queueing is really a luck of the draw situation, you could have a drunk asshole, 2 people who talk some sort of klingon, 3 funny swedish guys or just dead, burned and thrown away, silence
the problem with the hackers is really just because your essentially wasting 30minutes (if you don't want the abandon penalty), as when the hacker is eventually banned all of their games are rendered useless, so any rank-ups/rank-downs from those matches will be reversed
some people are ,however, 'smurfing' (buying a new account to play againts lower ranked players), these are often called hackers aswell and are really just a pain in the backside

I've played my share of CS over the years and I do own GO, however, it just isn't my type of game. I do far more spectating than playing with these types of shooters.
Right now Dirty Bomb is eating up all my FPS attention.

Right now Dirty Bomb is eating up all my FPS attention. Well that should make for some nice podcast talk. Aberrant has been playing some as well.

REALLY liking Dirty Bomb so far. Class based games are more my style in shooters.
The maps are good so far as well, playing this reminds me more of TF2 than anything else.

Thanks for the reminder! Looking forward to it (god help me). REALLY liking Dirty Bomb so far. Class based games are more my style in shooters. The maps are good so far as well, playing this reminds me more of TF2 than anything else. Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory is one of my favorite shooters of all-time (also made by Splash Damage). This is a great combination of that game, Brink (what a POS), and TF2. I love class-based shooters, with objective gameplay. I'll save the rest for Friday!

CS:GO or Dirty Bomb?
I've been out of town all week. I still want to play more CS:GO, but I have plans to fire up FFXIV this weekend and I think it's my turn to edit the podcast. So, I'm not sure how much I'll get in game until next week.

Well, at least between the 2 FPS games, you have very distinct styles. Depends on what type of game you are looking for.
