I played DOTA 2 for the first time tonight and there was a bit of confusion. Recently they introduced a tutorial that Ab and Slurms never had to do. It only allows and explains screen movement with the arrow keys and middle mouse button... which was very clunky. Slurms invited me to a match and we hoped it was just a tutorial issue but this is currently the default setting in-game.
You can turn on edge pan by going to the GEAR icon in the upper left corner of your screen, go to GAME, INTERFACE and switch EDGE PAN to ON.
