I just read that The Secret World is set for a mid-June launch date. Ha anyone else been following this game? I've had my eye on it for quite some time, and have registered for the beta...but I am having so much fun in SWTOR I doubt I would give it a fair chance right now.
What about you guys? Are you conspiracy theorists? Urban legends fanatics? Does this game just scream fun mystery horror?
(will edit in video trailers when I'm not on my phone)

It's not cranking my crank as much as GW2 that could possibly launch same timeframe. I don't trust Funcom

the premise of a magical battle in the modern world is appealing to me, and i like that there are three factions, but there in ends my interest. nothing else i've heard about it sounds appealing to me.

likewise
I feel like it should appeal to me more, but it just looks like Jank City to me.

I feel the same way. I think similar to Age of Conan, the idea is fantastic...but the execution is worrisome. I will probably still try it a bit....as long as it's a free trial/beta.

I think GW2 will shadow it. It spent seem like it can compete with the WvWvW thing and all the guild functionality and the NO monthly fee thing

It looks interesting, but not a quarter as interesting as GW2. Add me to list of people who don't trust Funcom to make an engaging game as well. AoC could never hold me for more than a few hours.

I'm probably going to check it out. Sarsi has been raving about it over in the CotNS forums. Mostly I'm intrigued by the idea of having to do real-world research to solve some of the puzzles.

This is my favorite aspect. Something that transcends the in-game experience. Something that rewards ingenuity rather than raw time played.

I signed up for the beta. But, I don't know how serious I am about playing the game on release.

Thread rez! I have a friend who was raving about the game. I hadn't even looked at it. They have an interesting pre-order package. For different amounts of moolah, you can get various items as well as either lifetime discount on your sub or a lifetime sub itself. Secret World Pre-orderI see you can also go ahead and buy additional character slots, at 10 bucks a slot. The retail game gives you only 3 slots. Hahaha! That would kill some of us here in Multiplaying! The "no class" restriction thing is interesting. Just not really sure how I feel about the genre itself. I have no idea if I'll play it. I'm not finding much room for gaming these days, so paying a monthly sub and rarely playing seems wasteful.

I played it at PAX. From the ten minutes I could focus on it, it seemed like the typical MMO. I didn't get the opportunity to make a class, so I don't know how that is. Also my playtime had no real objective since there were just computers with characters open that people would play on then walk away from. So I joined in the middle of something and just ran around killing people.

Given what I've seen from the dev videos, it looks like you can be all the "classes" simultaneously with one character. You're actually punished for having multiple chars, because having everything on 1 character leads to a more versatile character.
The more I see of the game, the less I think it will be terrible, but I still don't think it can hold an candle to GW2. Why settle for the B team when the A team doesn't gouge you with a monthly fee?
