My new rig doesn't want to play nice with my headset (front jacks). It is pretty old and crappy, so maybe time to get a better headset. Anyone have a good USB set recommendation?

You are the second person to recommend that one. Thanks!

So my headset is now literally falling apart (one of the earpieces is completely separated). I looked up the G930 and I am totally priced out of buying that one. The most I really want to spend is $40. I've done some preliminary research and uncovered the Logitech G330 as my current favorite. Does anyone have any other suggestions or experience with the G330 to share?

It looks pretty good. I had that kind of hang on the ear style before, and it made my ears sore after long play sessions. That one looks heavier that my old set, so it might get annoying before long.

Hm...Good point. I'll see if I can turn up a weight spec.
I actually prefer the behind the head style though. Over the head styles need to pinch your head to stay in place, and that pressure has always bothered me more than the weight of this kind.

I used to fly, so I got used to the over the top style. If you set it up right, it works well. Of course it has to be designed right.

So I got the G330. At first blush, it appears to be extremely light, massively comfortable and cool around the ears (less sweating). It doesn't even interfere with my glasses much. Hard to judge incoming audio quality, but outgoing is an extremely noticeable improvement over my old pair. It's tightness can also be adjusted to get rid of that "hanging on the ears" feeling that you were talking about Winin. (And even if my ears do get sore the microphone is so positionable I can put them around my neck and still get the mic in front of my mouth. ^.^)
I will report back after I use it for a longer game session.
